Womens’ Hockey is our Flagship Program. We are only a year old in this field, but our passion for sports encourages us to keep on going further for uplifting the state of Womens’ Hockey in the country. Within one year, we have been able to create an enabling environment for Womens’ Hockey, and with good support from the society, we get audience and players alike to participate in various women hockey events.
In April, 2016, the Foundation organized its first State Level (Prize Money) Championship wherein 08 teams from various corners participated. The Winning Team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- while the two runner ups received Rs. 75,000/- and Rs. 25,000/- respectively. To motivate the young and budding women hockey players, the Star performers were also awarded cash prizes for their sterling performances during the 05 days-long event.
It was very heartwarming to see budding players with Veteran players who represented India in Olympics and in other International events. The event witnessed people from all walks of society i.e. NGOs, school going children, Government Officials, top bureaucrats, sports officials, socialites, business class, Clubs like Lions, and Rotary, academicians and education officials to watch the matches on ground. Mr. Anandeshwar Pandey, President, UP Hockey, and Dr. R P Singh, Director Sports, UP, have extended all their support to us.
Apart from this State Level Championship, with handholding from UP Hockey, and the Department of Sports, UP, we supported around a dozen events by facilitating the teams’ travel, boarding and lodging and other such requirements including gifting them with Kits, Sticks etc. as and when required within our limited financial resources.
